Florida Senate Approves FAMU – FSU Engineering Program Split

For the past 31 years, Florida State University (FSU) and Florida A & M University (FAMU) shared an engineering program funded by the state and housed on the FSU campus. On April 1st, the idea to have separate programs was introduced by Florida Senator John Thrasher with a proposal to amend the state budget to accommodate the expense of building a standalone program for FSU. Clemson University Receives $1.3 million Award For Program To Increase The Number African American Male Teachers

  Clemson University’s fourteen year old program, CALL ME MISTER (Mentors Instructing Students Toward Effective Role Models), has proven to be a tremendous success and is credited with increasing the number of African American male teachers in South Carolina public schools by seventy-five percent over the last decade.  Over the life of the program, it has expanded to 17 colleges in South Carolina. Nearly 100 students are enrolled in the program in six additional states including Florida, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Mississippi and Georgia. The organization’s efforts lead the W.K. HBCU St. Paul’s College Campus Up For Sale On April 9th

St. Paul’s College has the misfortune of representing the worst of the economic plight currently facng many HBCU’s.
