United Nations Flags

Hungry? Are you an adventurous foodie? If yes, you may be interested in attending one of United Noshes 194 dinner parties that have been held since 2011 in various locations from New York City to Boston, D.C., Seattle and the Bay Area featuring foods from the 194 United Nations member countries (in alphabetical order). Hosts and husband and wife team, Jesse Friedman and Laura Hadden, started on the mouthwatering journey as a simple fun way of sharing their love for cooking international dishes with friends as well as a way to make new friends.

We hit upon the idea because it combined two things we’re interested in,” Friedman said. “Exploring international dishes and meeting new people. We’ve met hundreds of people who are adventurous enough to try what we’re cooking. In New York, people tend not to visit each other in their homes. We wanted to open ours up.”

For a donation of $10 to $20 dollars you can attend their next dinner party. The number of attendees have since grown from just a few friends in their Brooklyn, NY home and they have about 500 subscribers to their newsletter, which announces dinner locations and dishes as well as allows subscribers to sign up to attend their parties. United Noshes has leveraged their growing popularity and has donated their proceeds, currently $22,800 plus, to World Food Program USA and Mercy Corps. Next month United Noshes will reach the halfway mark in their journey with a meal from Libya.
